MEDICINAL AND RECREATIONAL USE

Artemisia absinthium has a long history of use in women's health practices, relieving menstrual cramps and reproductive problems. Its name, related to the goddess Artemis in Greek mythology, symbolizes feminine strength and independence. In the 19th century, the consumption of absinthe, an alcoholic drink derived from the plant, became an icon of transgression, being associated with female "degeneration" and bohemia.
