In ancient traditions, such as Egypt, cannabis was used to treat menstrual pain and women's health problems. In India and China, it helped relieve nausea during pregnancy and pain during childbirth. Used for millennia for medicinal, spiritual and recreational purposes, it was stigmatized in the 20th century, associated with criminality. Today, it is being re-evaluated in the treatment of epilepsy, chronic pain and anxiety.
